Never get comfortable. If you do, your competitors will eat your lunch. Rather eat theirs.

It’s also very important to know who your competitors are and to know more about them than they know about you.

The motor trade is a big space and many of our competitors focus their energies on the corporate/OEM
dealerships and workshops. Not many are able to accommodate the independent space as their prices
are usually too expensive.

Why should a dealership or workshop choose VMG over any other competitor? There are many reasons.
The bulk of which are listed below.

  • We deliver a complete eco-system that provides dealers and workshops with all the products
and services they need in one single eco-system.
  • When combined, these products and services are less expensive than our competitors providing
greater value for money to our clients.
  • A single software eco-system means that clients only have to ring one number for all their
    software support and training needs.
  • VMG delivers world class support in real time with real people. There are no ticket systems or
“press 2 for support” events at VMG.
  • Our user training processes are 2nd to none. We understand intrinsically that a happy user is a
    happy owner.
  • Our business strategy is to provide a single eco-system to our customers. We do not lose focus
by providing multiple modules and products to our clients.
  • Our pricing is the most affordable for products in its class.
  • We deliver our products with unlimited installations and support and do not charge per user for
    this service.
  • Training is provided onsite and shoulder to shoulder.
  • Our internal processes and standard operating procedures mean that the business runs in spite
of the owners ensuring long term security is in place for all our customers.

Below is a list of our primary competitors and the space they “play” in. This list was last updated in June
2017.

CDK Global (Kerridge) – DMS / WMS
CDK plays a big game. They provide sophisticated DMS and WMS to their clients and have fees that start
at around R 200k and monthly fees that appear to run between R 1250 and R 1750 pm per user.

Their focus is to close deals with OEM head offices (think BMW in Germany) and then roll out the
software to all their branches internationally. https://www.cdkglobal.com/automotive

AUTOMATE – DMS / WMS
Automate competes directly against CDK in South Africa and has a very similar business focus, model
and cost. They have tried to compete in the independent dealer and workshop space but have been
unable to gain traction vs their lower cost and more independent dealer focused software platforms
such as VMG Software. https://www.dimensiondata.com/en-gb/industries/automotive/

PINNACLE – DMS / WMS / CRM / WEBMASTER
Pinnacle is developed by PinewoodSA and got their entry into the dealership space when they
developed software for GM in SA. They are a hybrid software provider in that they can cater for
corporate clients and independent clients and their pricing is similar to VMG’s.
In the last few years, many clients that now use VMG were ex-pinnacle clients and VMG has not lost a
single client to Pinnacle. http://www.pinewoodsa.co.za/

ADAS – DMS, CRM, WEBMASTER
ADAS are our old faithful competitors. They serve exactly the same market as we do. They do not focus
on workshop software but are a carbon copy of VMG DMS PRO with the only difference being that VMG
is larger than they are (they have around 7 staff and 220 dealer customers) and that they use MS Access
as their software tool of choice. https://www.adasoft.co.za/

EASY QUOTE
Operating primarily in KZN, EasyQuote offers a nice product range to their dealer customers. Their
mobile app is especially handy.
Their focus is more on the CRM / LSM side of the industry, but they do provide a stock management
module to their customers. https://www.easysystems.co.za/easy-quote.aspx

COMPATIBLE MOTODATA V10
Run in Africa by Compatible and developed by Australian company Titan Software, V10 is focused on
servicing OEMs. They are an end-to-end DMS and WMS solution provider.

AUTOSLM – CRM / WEBMASTER
AutoSLM is a very popular product used by hundreds of dealerships. They have been serving the trade
exceptionally well for many years and are a competitor that commands respect. They provide services to
dealers in SA, Dubai, England and Australia. https://www.autoslm.co.za/

AUTOHUB (EGMSA)– CRM / WEBMASTER
Autohub, previously known as E-Good manners have faded in recent years but are still in use at many
clients in SA. They have shifted their focus to other countries. http://wordpress.e-goodmanners.co.za/

IX.CO.ZA – CRM / WEBMASTER
IX.co.za are friends to VMG even though we both compete for the same CRM and Lead Management
product clients. VMG provides an integration to IX.co.za so any clients already on IX.co.za can either use
our feed to them or migrate over to VMG. http://www.ix.co.za/

AUTO-IT
Tailored specifically to the needs of medium to large retail automotive dealerships. It is installed in
hundreds of dealerships around the world, including New Zealand, Australia, Brunei, Malaysia,
Singapore and South Africa. http://www.auto-it.co.za/
